Types and characteristics of heating magnetic stirrers.

04 03. 2023

The heating magnetic stirrer is a commonly used instrument in the laboratory, mainly achieving heating and stirring functions. Heating the top plate of the magnetic stirrer plays a role in carrying the working medium, conducting heat, magnetic force, and corrosion resistance. The top plate is one of the key components of the heating magnetic stirrer. Over the years of development, the disk surface has also formed a variety of different materials and specifications.

Types and characteristics of heating magnetic stirrers.

1. Pure metal disk surface

Generally, metal materials such as aluminum alloy or stainless steel are used as the disk surface, which has the advantages of economy and simple processing. It is commonly used for economical heating magnetic stirrers, with a maximum temperature generally below 350 ℃. Limited to the nature of the metal itself, it is susceptible to corrosion and oxidation by chemical agents. After long-term use, the metal disk surface will be affected by corrosion, and in severe cases, corrosion and rust can even occur, greatly affecting the performance of the instrument.

2. Ceramic disk

In order to solve the corrosion resistance problem of the metal disk surface, a layer of ceramic is covered on the metal disk surface to make a ceramic disk surface. The corrosion resistance of ceramics to solvents such as acids and bases is far superior to that of metals. Due to the protection of ceramics, the corrosion resistance of the disk surface has been greatly improved.

3. Ceramic glass disk

Ceramic glass is a composite material made by melting, molding, and heat treatment at high temperatures, which combines crystalline phases with glass. Ceramic glass has high mechanical strength, adjustable thermal expansion, heat shock resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, low dielectric loss and other superior properties. It is a new generation of disk material for heating magnetic stirrers. Ceramic glass has the property of being able to transmit infrared radiation, which can be used in high-efficiency heating methods. It is generally used for high-performance heating magnetic stirrers.
