How to deal with overheating of vacuum pump?

07 19. 2022

Circulating water vacuum pump is a gas extraction equipment for main equipment, which is widely used in experimental operations such as evaporation, distillation, filtration, crystallization drying, decompression and sublimation. It is a standing equipment in laboratories of medical and health, chemical industry, food processing, colleges and universities, scientific research institutions and production departments. In normal use, the temperature may rise due to some reasons, resulting in abnormal heating.

1. The circulating water in the pump body forms a water ring in the pump cavity, and the air compresses the air in the water ring rolled by the impeller, causing the vacuum pump to heat up.

2. It may be that the suction temperature of the vacuum pump is high, and the vacuum degree will drop when the circulating water exceeds 30 ℃. After continuous operation for one day, scale will appear in the pump, making the impeller difficult to operate, and the conflict will increase, forming the vacuum pump heating.

Solution:

1. The vacuum pump is an air extraction pump, which allows a small amount of liquid to be sucked in. If the sucked material contains a large amount of water, a buffer tank should be added in front of the vacuum pump, and a large amount of water sucked in by the vacuum pump will damage the impeller.

2. After the motor is disassembled, roll the fan fins of the motor to check whether they work sensitively. If you feel it difficult to run, disassemble the exhaust pipe of the pump and use a flashlight to observe whether there is scale inside the pump. When scale is generated, it will make it difficult for the impeller to work, and even burn the motor seriously. The mechanical seal spring is also easy to be locked by the scale on the shaft.

Note: the circulating water vacuum pump must be installed with overload protection device to avoid overload burning the motor. If the original pipe is used, the pipe is too thin and the drainage is poor, which will also cause the motor to overheat.
