Rotary evaporator is a common test equipment in the laboratory. It is mainly used in biological, chemical and pharmaceutical industries for concentration, crystallization, separation, drying and solvent recovery.
However, we will inevitably encounter some problems in the process of daily use of rotary evaporator. Today, let's talk about that the vacuum degree of rotary evaporator can't reach the goal.
In fact, the main reason why the vacuum in the rotary evaporator can not be reduced is the problem of steam pressure, so we need to:
1. Check the rotary evaporator for air leakage, especially for solid compounds. Pay attention to whether there are objects sprayed and plugged into the interface of the rotary evaporator, resulting in looseness at the interface.
2. Check the explosion-proof ball and liquid storage ball to see if there is liquid in the glass ball, especially when dealing with low boiling solvent, the waste liquid should be poured out in time, otherwise the steam pressure of the rotary evaporator will be very large, which will affect the vacuum degree. In other words, part of the liquid spun out exists in the form of gas under vacuum conditions.
3. Check whether the condensation cycle is turned on. If condensation is not enough, most of the liquid spun out exists in the form of gas. Only by condensing it into liquid can the air pressure be reduced.
In addition, there is another possibility that the indication of the rotary evaporator fails, but this phenomenon is relatively rare.
